You know you have been to the doctors too often when......

For about a month (or maybe even a bit longer) before Christmas, Jessica just wasn’t herself. She didn’t have a temperature, or  a cold or a cough, but was just generally “under the weather”. She was very lethargic, and clearly feeling very sorry for herself. Now the assumption was that she just had a virus, and I think that was correct. However, because Jessica can’t tell us if she is pain, or has earache or a sore throat, I often end up taking her to the GP to be examined, just in case there is something that needs treating. (Insert here the guilt I have felt on the odd occasion when I have left it, only to find that she has a raging ear infection, or tonsillitis and are asked by the GP why I didn’t take her in sooner). So, consequently, in the run up to Christmas Jessica went to the GP quite a lot, as she didn’t seem to be getting any better. Imagine my surprise however, when on one visit, I had Jessica sat on my lap, and as the GP prepared to examine her, she automatically opened her mouth for him to look at her throat without even being asked to! I didn’t know whether to be proud or embarrassed! So I went for both.

Hello and welcome to my new blog! I hope to be able to post fairly regularly any updates on how Jessica is doing, and also my own views and experiences on being the parent of a disabled child. However, we will have to see how I get on, as blogging and social networking is all new to me! I hope you enjoy the blog, and please do leave a comment, or send  me an email if you have something you want to say.
